Older white filling materials suffered from shrinkage and teeth were sensitive after placement of the filling. Modern materials have eliminated most the previous problems such that white fillings are fast becoming the treatment of choice for dentists and patients.
White fillings are adhesive to the tooth and therefore help to hold the tooth together and prevent further parts of the tooth breaking away.
White fillings here are placed using a 4th generation bonding system and layering technique as per the most up to date guidance. Sometimes sectional matrices are used to assist re-creating tooth contours.
Fillings which are very large can be restored with a white filling but sometimes it is better to use a ceramic filling which is stronger.
